My econ folder from college. Macroeconomics was kind of interesting, but frustratingly imprecise compared to engineering physics. Micro just plain sucked.
I got to Cliff Bell’s first and my friends were late, so a cocktail napkin got upcycled.
I found these adorable photos of my beautiful little Gracie, taken the day I brought her home over 2 years ago. She was 11 weeks old.
I had always hoped the attics and closets of Ann Arbor would cough up a vintage Bonnie Cashin, and finally they did. A rare suede and fur number, found at Kiwanis, for $20.
Set of boot sweaters I made out of some thrift shop wool sweaters, felted and cut.
Pug “Pup-up” I made based on Robert Sabuda pig pop-up design.
The Mothership has landed. My very oooold drawing of the great George Clinton, circa 197?, keeps me company while I cook…
Found! Chinese calligraphy kit for $12 at the Treasure Mart in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Look at all these precious artifacts! I am just itching to learn what it’s all for and how to use it. Chinese calligraphy looks like a beautiful, ritualistic pursuit.
Steve Hughes’ Stupor zine is available at Design 99 Gallery in Hamtramck (Detroit), Michigan. Each zine is filled with brief, sometimes haunting, stories collected from people from all walks of life, and illustrated with Steve’s collages and drawings. A lot of wonderful stuff to look at and think about, for a dollar!
“Snaggletooth” here is by Detroit jewelry artist stOOpidgErL, aka Kim Ripley. Recurring themes include candy, baked goods, skulls and poo. Not sure if she has a website, but she sells on Etsy. I discovered her through her Flickr photostream. Delicious stuff, even the poo.
